The real value of Coaching in our chaotic world.
December 15, 2023The power of Listening in coaching. Why it makes all the difference.
March 22, 2024
2024 is the year of creating a more conscious life for myself. In 2023 there were several clients who brought the word consciousness to their goals. Through supporting them on their journeys it has inspired me to make this year’s focus word for me conscious/mindful. Part of this conscious journey is committing to working through my Big Life Journal.
THE JOURNAL
The Big Life Journal is a tool I wish I would have created myself. A beautifully illustrated book that walks the user through many of the processes one experiences in coaching.
- values work
- scarcity mindset
- self reflection practices
- facing the inner critic
- facing fear of failure
- shifting perspectives
Journalling is often a key tool in the coach’s toolbox, used to help a client with commitment to themselves along with personal growth. I have journals going back 35 years. Journalling helps to create a more conscious mindset. But journalling is missing a key piece at times; the power of the question.
PERSONAL GROWTH
Part of the Big Life Journal’s value is that each section is packed full of questions that help entice personal growth for the user. You have to stop and think, be conscious, of what your thoughts, values, beliefs and bias are. The journal, along with coaching, can work together to help one maintain a conscious daily life. For some, such as myself, it’s a tremendous tool to support one on their path towards who it is they want to be in their life. Way of being refers to character traits, ie: courageous, brave, daring, adventurous, kind, compassionate, strong, passionate. Working through the journal, in tandem with coaching, will help the client put into action the thoughts, ideas and concepts that they create when working through the Big Life Journal.
The power of journaling may best be expressed by Anthony Kiedis when he wrote, “ When you start putting pen to paper, you see a side of your personal truth that doesn’t otherwise reveal itself in conversation or thought. “
COMMITTED
This year I am committed to living a more mindful, conscious life. One where I am aware of my impact on others and on the impact my thoughts have on my success. If this resonates for you then consider working through your own Big Life Journal. I would love to hear how it’s going for you!
