So you’ve heard about coaching but you’re not sure why people work with a coach. You know about sports coaches but really don’t know about personal or life coaches. So why do people work with a coach?
People can come to a coach for just about everything and anything they want help or support with. They’re often also tired of reaching out to everyone they know to get advice on something and still find they can’t make a decision or get traction on their issue.
REASONS TO USE A COACH
Here are just some of the topics clients have brought to our coaching relationship in my past 8 years as a coach:
- I want to find my voice. I never speak up, never say what’s really going on for me and I want to change that. I’ve often felt unworthy. Unworthy of praise, unworthy of acknowledgement, unworthy of love. I’m tired of this getting in my way.
- My communication skills are lousy, I’ve been told this by several people but I also know it myself. I want to get better, something has to change.
- I want to take on more of a leadership role at work, or school, or in my club, fill in the blank here. But I’m not sure how to do that.
- I’ve been unhappy at my job for years, it’s time to do something I love but I don’t know where to start, I’m stuck. I want to be able to make a decision.
- I’ve been told I never let people get close to me. I know this has affected every intimate relationship I’ve been in. I don’t want to be alone but I don’t know how to change this.
- My partner and I are splitting up. I’m scared of a future on my own, I have no idea what lays ahead so I want to create a plan, have a path so I know where I am going and what I want.
- I’m not a very courageous person. I’ve let so many opportunities pass me by in life because of this. I really want to work on finding my courage but I don’t know how to do that on my own.
Maybe you see yourself in one, or several, of these places and know that you need support and accountability to get traction with them. Then you are ready for coaching. Most coaches offer a free sample session to anyone interested in checking it out further. It’s like a test drive before you buy a car. You’ve got nothing to lose and your life to gain back.
CLIENT VIDEO INTERVIEW
The International Coach Federation, ICF, created this great video of one client’s experience with coaching. Check check out this video with Kenneth Buzek as he shares his experience with coaching.
I’ve also shared below what some of my previous clients have written in reviews after they had experienced coaching. See what they had to say happened for them.
WHAT MY CLIENTS SAY
Working with Linda helped me realize that my anxiety was actually a result of not knowing how to connect with others. Our focus was for me to understand the the skills needed to create connections and then taking that knowledge and apply and integrate my learnings into real life situations. As a hands on learner, Linda adapted her teaching style to my hands on learning needs. My quality of life has positively changed in so many ways as a result of her ability to adapt to my needs. I am now a confident human. I no longer have daily anxiety. I’m now able to articulate what I am feeling, and what I am struggling with to others. I am creating so many new, and meaningful connections Jenny – Victoria, B.C.
I have been so fortunate to have been able to have Linda coach me during some major challenges and life changes. What I appreciated the most was the professional commitment that Linda made to support my values and goals, ignite my natural curiosity again, and challenge me to reflect on what was important to me and what I needed to do to move forward to meet my goals. But the real outcome is that 3 months later I am still using the tools Linda provided and I feel peaceful with the changes I have made. This is by far the best investment I have made in myself. Diane, Victoria, B.C.
When I met Linda in 2013, I did not know much about communication coaching. But I said “why not, let’s give it a shot.” That simple decision has become one of the best decisions of my life. It has opened many doors for me both personally and professionally. Linda was truly born to be a coach, passionate and enthusiastic, helping others to reach their highest potential. I know that with her coaching I can find my own answers to whatever challenges I go through. I consider myself fortunate and highly suggest others try coaching with Linda as well. Linda has been my coach for the last year. Over that time, my life has truly changed in an amazing way. I’ve learned so much about how to understand and express myself, quiet my inner judge, and most importantly [to me] how to communicate with others in a compassionate way. I am delighted to have a different, more empathetic, and more positive outlook in every day situations. Lindsey, Maine, USA
I hope this has given you a better idea as to why people choose work with a coach. Coaching isn’t new, it’s been around for over 25 years now. There has never been a better time to consider working with a coach to help you achieve the life that you’ve been desiring.
Life is your creation. Let’s do it, together.
